No language has ever lasted over 1,000 years without adding or changing some aspects of their modern language. Egypt has gone through six stages of languages to get where they are today in their modern standard arabic- Old Egyptian, Middle Egyptian, Late Egyptian, Demotic, Coptic, and Arabic. Since 3,000 BC Egyptian writing has consists of drawings/pictures, labels, and signs. Old Egyptian was created in 2600 BC and was used as the national language for 500+ years. Middle Egyptian overpowered Old Egyptian in 2100 BC and stayed in power for another 500 years until Late Egyptian finally took its place as the national language in Egypt. Demotic language began becoming more popular and well known until it finally became Egypt’s national language around 650 BC until 5 AD. Coptic is known as a religious language. Demotic was written as a living language and lasted until 2 AD
